CHRISTMAS EVE!!!
Hello Family,
It's hard to believe that Christamas Eve is only two weeks away. Where has this month gone? I'm working on planning the party, and getting organized. So if everyone can email me or call me with what they plan on bringing..that would be great. That way I know where to fill in the gaps.
Last time we spoke I, Becky said that she was brining the ham, and something else (I don't remember, and my lists got misplaced). I know Tracy is bringing a poppy seed cake and a chocolate cake.
I would like for the young adults to either bring some soda, If they are drinking they can bring beer or wine...or anyone for that matter if they plan on drinking.
I will get back to you with further details.

Thanksgiving Leftovers
On the First Day: We give thanks for the fresh turkey feast and its hot trimmings.
On the Second Day: We bless the cold turkey sandwiches, sloshy cranberry sauce and hard rolls.
On the Third Day: We praise the turkey pie and vintage mixed veggies.
On the Fourth Day: We thank the pilgrims for not serving bison that first time, or we'd be celebrating Thanksgiving until April.
On the Fifth Day: We gobble up cubed bird casserole and pray for a glimpse of a naked turkey carcass.
On the Sixth Day: We show gratitude (sort of) to the creative cook who slings cashews at the turkey and calls it Oriental.
On the Seventh Day: We forgive our forefathers and pass the turkey-nugget pizza.
On the Eighth Day: The word "vegetarian" keeps popping into our heads.
On the Ninth Day: We check our hair to make sure we're not beginning to sprout feathers.
On the Tenth Day: We hope that the wing meat kabobs catch fire under the broiler.
On the Eleventh Day: We smile over the creamed gizzard because the thigh bones are in sight.
On the Twelfth Day: We apologize for running out of turkey leftovers.

Sunflowers
I love sunflowers. I don't remember seeing them very much when I was a child but now I see them all over. Today Jim and I walked through the flower patch at the apple orchard. The row along the road looks like they are standing guard over the corn. The large patch reminds me of a dance company. They are ready to move! It is so amazing to me how large they are. I have seen them planted along fences in our neighborhood. I might try to grow some along our fence.

I get my kicks...
Jim and I traveled "the Mother Road" yesterday. We left our house at 9:30 and started in Wilmington. We made it to Pontiac by 2:00, that's 93 miles in 4 1/2 hours! We met folks from California, Oregon, Indiana and Michigan. I love doing this trip, even if we just do a day trip. We would like to do the whole route next spring.

SEPTEMBER GIFT
Thank you Roberta for September's gift. I just opened it this morning. The towels go nice in the kitchen and they are also nice for Christmas time because of the green stripes. I enjoy having the presents every month to look forward to.

FAMILY TRIP
Hello family,
Cheyrl told Roberta that she wants to go to Frankenmuth this year. From Illinois it is almost six hours. If we do this trip we need to spend the night there.
I have sent away for the visitors brochure and also the catalog from Bronners. It would make a nice trip for late fall. We can find someplace not to expensive to stay at. We could even stay at a hotel by Cheyrl and just drive the 3 to 31/2 hours from there.

Kylie and Abbie's Pom Recital
Friday Kylie and Abbie had their Poms recital. It lasted about 10 minutes but was among the cutest 10 minutes I've spent in a long time. They both did very good, very focused on what they were doing.

I was thinking about having a Birthday Party for Jessica. She will be 16 and this will be her last family birthday party. I'm thinking about having it on Aug. 21, which is a Saturday.
